Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said today that the Senate will investigate alleged abuses by the Obama administration involving Trump’s campaign and transition team.
“The American people deserve answers about how such abuses could happen, and we intend to get those answers,” McConnell said in a fiery floor speech.
This was McConnell’s strongest remark in support of the view that Trump and his administration have been subjected to improper or even illegal surveillance.
In addition, McConnell slammed U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan for not allowing the DOJ to drop its prosecution of Michael Flynn.
“No matter what some Washington Democrats may try to claim, you’re not crazy or a conspiracy theorist if you see a pattern of institutional unfairness toward this president,” he said. “You would have to be blind not to see one.”
McConnell signaled his support for upcoming hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee that will seek the testimony of key Obama administration officials. These include former FBI director James Comey and Susan Rice.
No matter what happens or what will the investigation show, this does not look good for former President Barack Obama. Almost every day, information surfaces which shows he was more involved into discrediting Trump than it was originally believed so.
